Secretive Lviv 

  It's taken some time to publish this particular, some might say peculiar tour, as, after all, Lviv is a city of secrets and Lvivians a somewhat secretive tribe.

  What we have tried our damnedest to avoid is a generic underground Lviv tour of neglected, not very interesting spaces beneath a handful of even less interesting churches. Every other Lviv tour operator offers a "Lviv underground tour" like this and no one should ever have to pay for that.

  Leading our guests up the garden path, as it were, on a half-baked "catacombs tours" is something we would not entertain. Lviv is not Rome, we don't have proper catacombs here such as those of San Sebastiano, Callisto and Domitilla.

  Instead, we've cannibalized an old Lviv Fetish tour and an even older Cold War Nuclear Bunker tour idea, meshing disparate parts with a tragic subterranean trail that needs to be told. This is our Secretive Lviv and there's no tour in Lviv quite like it.

  Sipping coffee while watching a poor unfortunate being caned is on everyone's secret bucket list. Wandering around a bunker full of military gadgetry reminiscent of 007, but actually the real deal from Cold War Ukrainian SSR, is not something to pass up on.

  Crawling in the footsteps of Jews who somehow survived the Holocaust by hiding beneath Lviv old town for months on end must be experienced. No words can convey the meaning. Watch In Darkness, it'll improve your Polish language skills, too.

  At first glance, Secretive Lviv seems to be contradictory in every sense. Who else would offer a tour that touches on flagellation, coffee, the Cold War and The Holocaust?

  We have curated a challenging narrative of light-hearted moments, if a little painful moments, glimpses of the misery that consumed Lemberg, and the mechanics of an obsolete threat that has returned to haunt Ukraine once again. There is value in contradiction.
